Rowan Kipton was born in Yorkshire in 1983 and had a childhood in Wales; enjoying long adventures in wild lands, climbing ancient trees, swimming in rivers, snooping around old ruins and climbing castle walls. Both of these places had a huge influence in wanting to be a storyteller from a young age due to being surrounded by folklore and legends. Having spent years working in various low-paying jobs, Rowan never gave up on the dream of telling stories and wrote whenever there was a chance, completing seven novels and twelve short stories before getting a literary agent at the age of forty-two.
