We want to hear from you
We welcome submissions from new writers and established authors.
Sending us your work
If you would like one of our agents to look at your story, please check that it fits in with the genre your chosen agent is looking for and then follow the instructions below.
At the moment, we are not accepting screenplays, short stories or poetry. We only accept stories that have been written in English.
You can email your chosen agent directly:
Please note Rory Scarfe and Hattie Grünewald are currently closed to new submissions. Please instead direct your submission to Jordan, Rachel or Emily.
Emailing us fiction submissions
If you are emailing us a fiction submission, please include the working title of your story in the subject line of your email.
In the email, please include a one-line elevator pitch, a short blurb, the target market and genre of your writing and any competitions or prizes you’ve won for writing.
Then, please attach the first thirty pages of your manuscript and a one-page synopsis in one Word document or PDF. Please lay out your manuscript and synopsis so they are easy to read.
If you don’t follow these instructions, or you send your manuscript as a Pages document, Google document, WeTransfer or DropBox download, regrettably we will not read your submission. Equally, if you post your submission, we will not read it and we will recycle it.
Emailing us non-fiction submissions
If you are emailing a non-fiction submission, please include the working title of your story in the subject line.
In the email, please include a one-line elevator pitch, a short blurb, the target market and genre of your writing. Do also let us know anything relevant about you, whether that’s prizes you’ve won for your writing, the size and engagement of your social media platforms if you have them, and any pertinent qualifications or career experience.
Then, please attach your proposal document and a writing sample in one Word document or PDF. Please ensure your proposal is as concise as possible (no more than 10,000 words), including why your book is different from what has been published before, why you think your target market needs your book now, ideally at least three books which you think yours is comparable to, and a sample of your writing (1-3 chapters).
If you don’t follow these instructions or send a Pages document or Google document, WeTransfer file, or DropBox download, regrettably we will not read your submission. Equally, if you post your submission, we will not read it and will recycle it.
Our turnaround time
We do our best to respond to all submissions quickly, but this can take some time as we receive many submissions every day.
Having said this, we usually do respond within 12 weeks so, if you haven’t heard from us within this timeframe, please check your junk folders or spam as we may well have replied.
If, after waiting 12 weeks, you’ve checked your email and there’s nothing from us, please feel free to email the agent again and include the name of your submission and the date you sent it to us.
Sending detailed feedback
If we’ve read your initial submission and decided that we don’t want to offer you representation, we will send you a brief note but not a detailed critique of your work. If we ask to see a manuscript in full and then decide we don’t want to offer you representation, we will try and give you specific feedback on your work.
By sending us your submission, you agree to our Terms of Use and acknowledge our Privacy Policy.
Please only submit material that you have written yourself or, for works with more than one author, please make sure that all authors have given permission for the submission. Please do not submit any material that has been generated wholly or partially by AI.
Choosing your literary agent
Our agents have clear areas of interest, so please check out each agent page to ensure the agent you choose is looking for your genre and style of story before sending in your submission. Please only email your submission to one agent.
