Liam Kelly

Liam grew up in a country with a dragon on the flag, so from there it was a natural progression to spending his days in fantasy lands, reporting on the wonders he witnessed. It was primary school where he wrote his first story; Bruce Lee had a fight with the Devil. This was read out, possibly unsolicited, to the class, much to the confusion of his Irish nun teacher, who despite her pacifism and distinct lack of Kung-Fu cinema knowledge, was always down for a good “Devil kicking.”

He has a BA in scriptwriting and an MA in Writing for Young People. He has written for TV (for which he won an award), radio (for which he hasn’t), The University of Cambridge’s world-renowned Medieval Murder Map and has been a ghost writer for several best man speeches. He has also worked as a game tester for Xbox, an office worker, a shelf stacker and a cinema usher.

Liam’s work is inspired by a love of fantasy, Ray Harryhausen monster movies and making people laugh until they blow snot bubbles from their nostrils.

He currently lives in the East Riding of Yorkshire with his wife and a massive TV. Seriously it’s huge. When he’s not writing he enjoys following Welsh football and rugby and trying to visit countries that represent every letter of the alphabet. Except for X.
