Walker wins “Bad Witches Only” by Rogba Payne for six figures!!

Walker Books has triumphed in a “hotly contested” auction on the eve of the Bologna Children’s Book Fair for the first Young Adult titles by award-winning fantasy author Rogba Payne.
 
‘Bad Witches Only’ centres on Tinu, who had been carrying a deep secret: that she is a witch. Though it is a secret no longer, as she has joined Chatterton, Britain’s first school for witches. But she is the only black girl in a school where her magic is mocked, and Tinu goes from “fish out of water to being a fish in flaming hot soup” when the most popular girl in school is found dead in her dormitory. Facing expulsion, Tinu must “grapple with dark secrets, dark witches and self-doubt” to carve out a place where she can truly belong.
 
The first book in the deal is anticipated to drop in autumn 2027.
