Clare Leslie Hall

Clare Leslie Hall is the author of Pictures of Him, Days You Were Mine and Broken Country. Her third novel Broken Country was a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller, a Reese’s Book Club Pick and Amazon UK Book of the Year 2025. It has been translated into 37 languages and film rights have been sold to Sony 3000 Pictures, with a script in development.

Clare spent the first half of her career working as a newspaper journalist before relocating to the West Country where she lives in an old farmhouse in Dorset with her family. The ancient fields surrounding the house and the farmers who have a deep connection to the land were the inspiration for Broken Country.

Clare has always loved The Go Between by LP Hartley and BROKEN COUNTRY has a nod to it, featuring a forbidden love affair with catastrophic repercussions.
