HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHERS STONE PUBLISHES IN SCOTS

Today sees the publication of Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone translated, for the first time, into Scots by publishing house Itchy Coo. Scots marks the 80th translation language for the series, an astonishing achievement reached in the 20th anniversary year of Harry Potter in the UK.
Famously written in several Edinburgh cafes by J.K. Rowling, it is fitting that after being translated into 79 languages around the world, Itchy Coo’s Scots translation will be language number 80. The book was translated by expert in the field of Scots language education, Matthew Fitt. Matthew has written numerous children’s books and translated a number of titles including Roald Dahl’s The Eejits and Chairlie and the Chocolate Works and David Walliam’s Mr Mingin and Billionaire Bairn.
