Introducing The Blair Partnership’s Summer 2023 ‘Experience Works’ Programme
The Blair Partnership and Pottermore Publishing are back with another pioneering work experience programme, offering students the opportunity to step into the shoes of one of our agents for the week.
At the start of the week, students are split into groups and asked to choose which of the three submissions they’d like to represent.
Over the first four days they go on to hear from a range of subject matter experts across: Agency, International Rights, Legal & Contracts, Royalties, Marketing, Product Development, and Digital Publishing.
Interspersed with the webinars are periods of group work, where the students work together on making the decisions that will inform their publishing plan for their chosen book.
On the final day, students will hone their presentations ahead of going before our panel of judges to share their ideas. The judges panel will be announced via our company social media channels in the coming months.
Throughout the programme, each team will be supported by two members of our staff who act as mentors, guiding the team throughout the week, answering questions, and acting as a trial audience for their presentations.
Over the course of the week, students can expect to learn:
• How to spot a great story and how to pitch it to a publisher
• What contracts need to be in place
• How the author gets paid
• How to grow a brand beyond books
• How to market the book
• How to expand into digital and social spaces
Applications for our summer Experience Works programme will open in July, and the fully remote programme will take place Monday 21st August – Friday 25th August 2023.
