Dear World, eight-year-old Bana Alabed’s wartime memoir, publishes today in the UK and US with Simon and Schuster. Rights have so far been sold to publish in seven further international territories – Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Japan and Taiwan.

Bana’s live-tweets from inside of besieged Aleppo drew international attention to the plight of millions of innocent children caught up in war and the need for peace. Her Twitter account has reached 360,000 followers and her story has attracted a global response, with features in the New York Times, Glamour magazine, the Washington Post, CNN, Reuters, the Hindustan Times, the Independent, the Guardian, the Financial Times and many more. The release of Dear World has been praised by Bustle as one of the best forthcoming non-fiction titles for October 2017.

Bana has received huge levels of support from influential people worldwide, including French President Emmanuel Macron. Macron even referenced her plight in his speech to world leaders at 2017’s meeting of the United Nations. He later tweeted Bana to say ‘We hear your voice. I stand with you for peace’.

Bana is in New York to promote her book and her message of peace. Whilst in New York, Bana will be donating copies of her book to year two students at the Dream Charter School and participating in a live Q&A with its students.

Lara Alameddine and Daniel Dubiecki of The Allegiance, producers of Cries from Syria, have also produced a stirring book trailer for Dear World that testifies to the suffering of the people of Syria and the effect of war upon it’s children. See the video here.
