Hattie represents commercial and upmarket fiction – including women’s fiction, crime and thriller, historical and book club fiction – as well as some non-fiction in the areas of lifestyle and personal development. Find out more about Hattie here.
Jo represents commercial children’s fiction for all ages, and is particularly interested in pacy and adventurous middle grade fiction, and teen and YA fiction with lots of heart. Find out more about Jo here.

What we are looking for

We welcome all submissions and consider everything that is sent to the agency, though we are not currently accepting submissions for screenplays, short stories or poetry.

We welcome approaches from both debut writers and established authors. We’re very happy to receive submissions from overseas, as long as they’re written in English.

How to send us your work

We only accept submissions sent via email as a Word Document or PDF, clearly laid out and readable. We cannot accept Pages documents, Google documents or WeTransfer and Dropbox downloads.

For fiction submissions send us:
– the first thirty pages of your manuscript
– a one page synopsis

For non-fiction submissions send us:
– your proposal document
– a writing sample

Please only submit to one agent at a time. We are unable to consider submissions sent to multiple agents at The Blair Partnership.

In your covering letter we’d like to hear
– a one-line elevator pitch at the beginning of your cover letter
– the target market and genre of your writing
– any competitions or prizes you may have won

In the subject line of your email please include the title of your submission.

We do not accept postal submissions – any material submitted in this way will not be considered and will be recycled.

Our turnaround time

You should expect to hear from us within 6-10 weeks of us receiving your work. If you haven’t heard from us after that time, please make sure you check your junk folders, then feel free to email us and follow up.
